Who's coming to dinner? Somehow almost EVERYbody came to dinner. You could just see the poor waiters at Arigato internally screaming "NOooOoOo!" as we all trickled in, and the ruckus got louder and louder. It's the kind of big group dinner that you just HAAATE to be in the same restaurant in, because it's so loud, beyond obnoxious and totally self involved. SO MUCH FUN. I'd hate us, that's for sure. But really, only because I'd probably just want be in on the joke. Or maybe, I really would just want us to shut up. Like the brave girl who was at the teeny table of three sharing the back room, who SHUSHed the fuck out of us. At which point we all did fall silent. Before turning to each other and asking increduously, "Did that actually just happen?"

After we had done torturing the Japanese restaurant, we tripped across the road to terrorise the rooftop bar. Quote of the night was when I went to step over an outdoor umbrella - which, for the record wasn't secured very well - and some kid commented at me "She's not drunk, it's just her shoes!" Found it rather a nice thing to say really. Good times.

So that's what the beach we went to last week has been dubbed, named so because the little wooden stairway you have to climb down to get to the beach is literally tiny. I'd never been there before (for obvious reasons. I'm...well, fat) and before we got there I had a fleeting freak out thinking "Oh my god, what if I actually AM too fat to get to the beach!?" But I managed, thank fuck, so I could alternately fry and dip away on the delicious little stretch of sand and sea beyond. Other peops had the same idea so we managed to have a bit of a summer dream team on our little pow wow of towels. Obviously we didn't eat BEFORE we went, but pigged after we put our clothes back on with Jap and ICE CREAM. #FATTIES (well, singular fatty: me)

The pit at NY Fashion Week

A woman whom all the photographers outside descended on like pigeons to an old lady with breadcrumbs. There were also a bunch of people who just sat around outside the entire time in a pack, dressed really crappy, but in like, a group; waiting for unsuspecting and not so discerning street style bloggers of lower rank to take pics of them. But this lady was pretty cool. Reminiscent of Van Gogh's Sunflowers innit?

Waking up drunk means that you're still riding on last night's high (or low). Ja'maie and I managed to giggle into town and try and forage for food. The way we wandered around was kinda pathetic (but so fun), still buoyed up by last night's booze. We rumbled into La Esquina and with food came The Hangover. The day became the kind of day where the light is just too intense, the noises too loud. My arms kept getting tingly pins and needles besides the usual trio of Hangover S's (the shakes, the sweats and the shits). With these ills plaguing our bodies we zombied over to the Komakino spot before watching an angry black man abuse a whole train carriage for 'being all up in his face' and witnessing a van crash just off the Williamsburg bridge into a light pole. Heavy. Hope you're feeling better today though Jamie!

Cross Continental Catch-Up

I've been labouring under the misconception of what the time difference is between the UK and Australia for like, MONTHS now which caused me to miss my skype date with Thommo Hudson last week, to my chagrin. It's what comes from following too many time zones. BOO ME.

The time difference thing is so weird; I remember coming back to Sydney from Berlin CONVINCED that I was arriving 12 hours after departure according to what I understood on my flight itinerary and wondered where the usual epic travel time was going. I was honestly convinced I was cheating the time/space continuum with the help of time zones, until I realised that I just hadn't factored in the equivalent date of arrival in Sydney WHICH IS AHEAD, so therefore would gain a day whilst travelling, and therefore arrive on the 'same' day in Sydney as the day I left in Berlin. Or something. I'm probably recounting it completely WRONG.

Whatever.

Mindfuck.

AND THE INTERNET ALLOWS THIS CHEATING OF THE TIME/SPACE CONTINUUM TO OCCUR!

By this time last week, I was totally fed up and desperately wanted the weekend to arrive. I was over the entire week, which was mostly a load of boring and a load of waiting around. I was coming down with something and as usual, severely lacking in sleep. And my feet hurt.

Here are some pics from last week's chocolate factory party thingie. Twas fun. I got reeeeally drunky town and don't remember all that much of it at the end; just that I somehow ended up taking my tights off (which is why I got ill) somewhere between party and bingeing on Chat Thai. This is how drunky I was: I ordered a satay stick and TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT IT. Pedro had to remind me. Damn girl, you don't order a satay stick from Chat and FORGET about it...

Guy's Birthday Karaoke

It was Guy's birthdayayayay last week! So we had dinner at Mizuya on George St - which was the best idea EVER, with it's private karaoke booths, food and booze with a touch of a screen, black plasticky (?! or something) walls, wireless microphones, the best sound and the most awesome backing tracks I've ever come across. I actually nearly peed my pants in excitement when I arrived. The Japanese food was actually pretty good, service was pretty damn quick, but not quick enough for our trigger happy touch screen fingers, ordering 5 pages too fast for the waiters to bring. We all managed to inhale a ridiculous amount of food and drink whilst ferreting out all the most golden karaoke choons. Too much fun.

It's my grandmother's 82nd birthday and my mum has gone to visit her overseas as a surprise. I couldn't be there, so I took a bunch of random photos on film of small things I like to put in an album for my mum to give to her from me.

I haven't worn stiletto heels in a few years now...but these lace-up platform booties were too cute to pass up; black suede with black patent leather trim at the toe and the ankle. I need to ease up on my old faithfuls...they've been brought back from the brink a couple of times (I managed to CRACK the platform/wedge being pushed onto the road AND ROLLING OVER a pile of trash and fucking up my ankle for months after), so these babies will take the strain off in a suave suede fashion.

Sydney Mardi Graaaarrrgh!

MARDI GRAAAAAARRRGHHHH! Everyone was to-ing and fro-ing all week about what the hell to do. The only thing certain was that we were to keep away from the Parade at ALL COSTS, due to the glittery clusterfuck hell that it was bound to be.

When I was trekking across town to my rendezvous, and I swear I'd never seen so many gross 'normals' (and underage idiots) out on the street getting rowdy in my LIFE. And will someone please tell me how the hell wearing bunny ears and an even skankier outfit than usual qualifies as 'festive attire' for so many girls? The Easter Show hits town next month, innit...Honestly, some imagination please. There was nary a fab queen or glittery gay in sight, drowned as they were in the sea of icky, wretched and badly dressed people. Some sartorially retarded betch even had the nerve to snigger at my '80s jacket thingie' whilst wearing the equivalent of sticking forks into my eyeballs. GIRRRRL you BEST be sashaying away from me before I ninja chong yo' ass!

After sniffing out a few options, I of course took the best one with the posse (simply because we were going there together - remember people, it never actually matters that much WHERE you go, it's who you're with!)
